September is here, so bring on the fall goodies! When it comes to fall flavors, I prefer apple, cinnamon, and caramel over pumpkin spice. So as we are working on our seasonal drink list, you will see more of those and less pumpkin. The cream soda and butterscotch sauce from this butterbeer recipe makes it the perfect fall sip!

The boys and I usually ring in the new season by sharing small, homemade gifts with friends and neighbors. This year I plan to share something from our fall mason jar gift ideas post, including these seasonal drinks. If you plan to do the same, check out these adorable Hello Fall! gift tags we made just for you! They are a great way to spruce up a present for a neighbor or co-worker, and we have other DIY ideas for jars here.

When adding to our list of seasonal drinks, we knew we wanted to find, and perfect, a butterbeer recipe. My husband and I are both fans of the Harry Potter series, and love watching the movies during spooky season. It just makes sense to sip on some warm butterbeer while watching one of these great films!

We tried a few recipes, and with a few tweaks, found what we liked best. This is a favorite of ours, and our guests!

Notes:

-When making this recipe, you will want a pour saucepan, or a funnel. Because this drink is so hot, it needs to be easily poured!

-This may sound obvious, but you need to serve this drink in a mug. This butterbeer recipe gets steamy, and takes a long time to cool, so trust me on the mug thing. As you can see from some of the photos, I displayed the drink in glass (because look how pretty!) but I would not serve it like that!

-Remember, this drink contains dairy, so you need to watch it as it heats. It’s also important to give it a good shake and stir when you reheat!
